From the Neal Boortz website:

Americans for Fair Taxation has reorganized and plans to really step up to the plate and get the FairTax moving forward again. We now have two rallies scheduled that can really have an impact.

The first rally will be at the Koger Center of the University of South Carolina in Columbia on Tuesday, May 15th. There is a presidential candidate debate on Fox News that evening ... and the rally will be held before the debate to show support for the FairTax. Neal Boortz will be there!

TALLAHASSEE – In an effort to provide relief to Florida property owners beleaguered by rising taxes Representative Mitch Needelman (R-Melbourne) on Monday introduced the “Property Tax Elimination Act,” a ballot initiative that, if approved by voters, would repeal all property taxes including, Personal Property Tangible Taxes.

HJR 909 would replace all Property Taxes with a General Sales Tax. HJR 909 would also restrict counties, cities, and other Taxing Authorities to annual increases not to exceed 3% or the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

This joint resolution also has an escape clause that elected taxing authorities can use during emergencies, such as natural disasters, that would allow an additional sales tax increase of up to $.03 within their jurisdiction upon approval by super majority vote and a citizens’ referendum.

“People of the State of Florida have been asking for tax relief and fairness for years, and this bill will give them the opportunity to express through a Constitutional Ballot Initiative.”
