FLFairTax.net Call for Action

Representative Katherine Harris was interviewed today on AM 1240 & 1270 WINK News Radio Daybreak Show. The following are the words of Representative Harris as best I could transcribe them:

"… my very first initiatives that I’m going to fight for when I get in the Senate, we’re going to make tax reform the mantra for Florida and I'm going to go all over the state with the experts and let Floridians have a chance first hand to know about the flat tax and the fair tax … and let them see how important it is for tax reform."

I did not hear Katherine Harris say that she supported the Fair Tax. The interviewer went off the spastic end when Rep. Harris said "flat tax and fair tax." What I see here is that she mentioned flat tax first.

I have great optimism, however, claims of what she will do as a Senator when she will not take action as a Representative concerns me greatly.

The representative is currently listed as "Will Not Commit." From the interview, she is for Tax Reform, but is she for the Fair Tax. As a devils advocate, I can only see this as a campaign ploy to attract everyone who believes in tax reform without making any commitments for any action.

The representative remains on record for not supporting any reform that eliminates the home interest mortgage deduction -- that excludes the Fair Tax from her consideration.

I cannot find any statements from Representative Harris that could conclusively indicate her position on the Fair Tax Act of 2005. An explicit statement and even better, co-sponsorship of H.R.25 would do that.

So, here is the CALL TO ACTION, write the representative and get her response. We can then post the actual letter from her office on the web for all to see. We need Floridians from all over the state to sit down and write the representative at one of the following addresses:

116 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515-0001

1991 Main Street
Suite 181
Sarasota, FL 34236-5982

1112 Manatee Ave. West
9th Floor
Bradenton, FL 34205-7804

If Harris is serious about Tax Reform, let's get her on board as the 53rd cosponsor of H.R.25 while she is still in the house.
